Our Apprenticeships

As an apprentice at Turner Hire Drive you’ll get to earn whilst you learn! You’ll earn a salary whilst learning on the job from our experienced team. You’ll gain job specific skills which allow you to flourish in your role and you’ll also develop transferable skills which will help your overall growth and facilitate future career advancement at Turner Hire Drive.

Your apprenticeship will typically last a year, during which time you’ll work towards a professional qualification which is recognised by employers nationally.

Central Reservations

Modern Apprenticeship in Business and Administration (level 3). (Glasgow)

  • Telephone calls answering queries and contacting all branches/managers.
  • Email response time limit for off hires, extensions and new bookings for customers etc.
  • In depth look at how to use Pro Hire send reports, source vehicles, place bookings etc.
  • Loading multiple invoices / damage packs to several different portal systems
  • Well organised, good problem solving skills and quickly resolve issues under pressure (i.e. customer holding the phone line).
  • Willing to learn new systems / get involved in discussions.

Workshop

Modern Apprenticeship in Business and Administration (level 3). (Glasgow)

  • Assist in the maintenance and operation of an effective fleet management system, including file maintenance and general administration.
  • Maintaining computer input i.e. job file data, purchase orders.
  • Maintaining completed job files, processing job files for invoice assessment.
  • Recording department purchase ledger records of overheads.
  • Maintaining all relevant filing as designated.
  • Various typewritten correspondences, letters, memorandum etc.
  • Liaise with various suppliers.
  • Help to ensure the office is a safe working environment.

Front Desk

Modern Apprenticeship in Business and Administration (level 3). (Glasgow, Perth and Edinburgh)

  • The role combines face to face customer interaction as well as on the telephone for taking vehicle reservations, and completing rental agreements.
  • Handling sales and service situations in a calm and collected manner.
  • Ensuring that the hire is to the customer`s satisfaction by handling any concerns during or after the rental.
  • High volume of administration tasks including fleet maintenance and damage notifications.
  • Organising replacement vehicles to cover servicing and MOTs in accordance with company policy and legislative requirements.

Requirements

Ideal candidates for our apprenticeships will meet the following requirements.

  • Able to follow instruction
  • Comfortable working on own initiative or as part of a team
  • High standard of verbal and written communication skills
  • PC literate, preferable with Microsoft Excel experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Smart appearance, reliable and honest
  • Nat 4 or 5 in English
  • Nat 4 in Maths or Numeracy Pass
