New transport schemes have rental potential
The government has announced plans to invest £155m into 39
transport schemes across England, which it believes will boost
economic growth and reduce carbon.
The successful schemes contain a variety of measures, including
'smart cards' that can be used to pay for different modes of
transport and related services, such as car parks, buses and cycle
hire. Local authorities running such schemes, including Oxford,
Nottingham, Cumbria, Brighton and Plymouth, have the potential to
extend them to rental cars. Members may want to contact the
appropriate authority to see how they could
participate.
A list of the schemes that have been awarded funding can be found
here.
